THE TABERNACLE CHURCH
POSITION IN BAPTIST • UNION RESIGNATION MADE IN 1944 WITHDRAWN (New Zealand Press Association.) WELLINGTON. May 5. As a result of the recent resignation of Dr. Alexander Hodge as its minister, the Auckland Tabernacle Church has withdrawn a letter of resignation from the Baptist Union of New Zealand. .The letter was sent to the executive of the union in 1944. after the suspension of Dr. Hodge as a recognised minister of the union. In a statement issued to-day , the executive of the union says that the letter of resignation was never “received” by the executive, but was simply allowed to lie on the table. “The reception of the letter withdrawing that resignation has had the effect of restoring completely the relationship within the Baptist Union of the Church and other Baptist churches in the Dominion.” the statement says. “The 1949 assembly meetings of the union will be held in the Auckland Tabernacle Church early in November.”
