ANZAC DAY
FLAGS SHOULD NOT BE HALF-MAST Flags should be flown from the peak of masts on Anzac Day, and not halfmast as a sign of mourning. This official answer has been riven to a number of inquiries by firms and organisations. The Union Jack and the New Zealand flag are flown at half-mast only on Government instructions during some stated period of national mourning. Arrangements for Anzac Day parades and services in Christchurch nave now been completed. The first service will be the dawn service at 6.30 a.m., held by the Australian Imperia] Forces Association. The usual Anzac Day parade will be held in the afternoon and will march to King Edward Barracks for a civic service, where the speaker will be Major-General Sir Howard Kippenber?er and after the parade a “Field of temembrance” service will be held in the Square in front of the war memorial. Most of the suburban sub-branches of the Christchurch Returned Services' Association will hold special services in their districts in the morning.
