M.C.C. AND NATAL PLAY DRAWN GAME
DURBAN. February 28. The match between the M.C.C. and Natal was drawn. An extraordinary situation arose when the M.C.C resumed their first innings. As Wright shaped to take the first ball, the English captain, Mann, hurried into the scorers’ enclosure to see if this was correct, as he believed that Simpson should have taken the strike. The scorers confirmed this, but before any adjustment could be made Wright was bowled and the innings was ended. Scores:—M.C.C., first innings, 237 (Simpson 119 not out Payn five for 59): second innings, none for 6. Natal, first innings. 217; second innings' 166 (Dowling 60. Payn 48; Wright, seven for 54).
