ANNUAL MEETING i The annual meeting of the Choli mondeley Memorial Children’s Home I was held yesterday. ! The president (Mr E. A. Adams), presenting the annual report, referred to an article in the “Economist” commenting on the relation between social security and voluntary action. The article referred to the need for citizens to be “willing to undertake some ; voluntary service, however small,” in return for benefits received. Mr Adams said financial difficulties had become worse in the last few years. The committee was doing its best: The nomination of officers resulted: president. ?£r E. A. Adams; vicepresidents. Mr W. T. Langley, Mrs J. W. Alston, and Miss E. J. M. Cardale; committee, Mesdames J. A. White and T. Green, Miss M. Cameron Smith, Messrs A. B. Allen, V. C. Lawn, and E. A. Chivers, and Dr. Unwin. Dr. D. E. Currie and Miss M. McLean were elected life members. The rules were amended to increase the maximum membership of the committee to 10.
