A decline in births, deaths, and marriages by, the registrar for February, comoared with February. 1948, is shown in the monthly figures for Christchurch yesterday. The following are the figures for the first two months of 1949,.with those for the same period of 1948 m parenthesis:—births. 708 ('<08); deaths, 203 <236); marriage notices, 309 (3281 marriages by registrar, 48 (53). The following are the figures tor Februarv with the figures for February, 1948, in parenthesis:—Dirths, 331 (370); deaths. 92 (106); marriage notices, 178 (168); marriages by registrar. 23 (SO).
