NEW PROFESSOR ARRIVES
VICTORIA COLLEGE POST (P.A.) WELLINGTON. February 28. ‘ I hope, to do something to promote research into the working of government in New Zealand,” said Professor R. S. Parker, newly-appointed professor of political science at Victoria University College, who, with his wife and two .children, arrived today in the Wanganella. Professor Parker has completed 18 months’ research at the Australian National University, Canberra, into the history of Australian federalism. He said he was more interested in making institutions work than in theorising about them. At the same time, of course, sound theory was important. Professor Parker, from 1939 to 1945, was senior lecturer in political science at Victoria University College. After returning to Australia, and before taking up his research fellowship, he hei<* a similar position at Canberra.
