His Majesty the King may be invited to open the Empire Games . at Auckland next year. On the motion of- Mr L. A. Tracy, the executive of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association last night referred the matter to its administration committee for further consideration. Mr Tracy suggested that an official letter should be sent to His Majesty through the Governor-Gen-eral (Sir Bernard Freyberg), saying that if the King’s health permitted, and if he contemplated a visit to New Zealand, the people would be very happv to have him open the Empire Ga mes.—(P.A.)
