FORCED LANDING NEAR CHEVIOT

TIGER MOTH DEVELOPS ENGINE TROUBLE

On a flight from Queenstown to Wanganui, a Tiger Moth aeroplane owned by the Wanganui Aero Club and piloted by Mr D. McNab, of Wanganui, made a forced landing in a paddock on the flat near the Cheviot township about 3.30 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Mr McNab left Queenstown yesterday morning and after a stop at Harewood resumed his flight about 2.45 p.m. While flying at a height of about 5000 feet along the coastline off Go.re Bay he noticed an engine fault. With the engine failing, he flew acrosi the coastal hills to find a suitable landing ground, and eventually landed safely. Mr McNab expects to resume hit night this morning after repairs have been made.
