HUNGARIAN SKATERS RUN AWAY
FLIGHT HOME FROM OSLO EVADED (Rec. 7 p.m.) OSLO, February 24. Two minutes before their departure for home two Hungarian skaters, Kornel Pajor and Janos Kilian, and their trainer, Wazulek, dashed from the airways station and . disappeared into the streets of Oslo, they had just received their passports before entering a bus for the airfield. They grabbed their suitcases and ran. The rest of the team left by aeroplane for Hungary, according to programme. Pajor, who won the world speed skating title last week-end. was later seen training at the stadium, but no trace has yet been found of Kilian, who is said to be engaged to a Norwegian girl in Oslo.
British Transport Workers’ Pay.— The arbitration tribunal established by the Minister of Labour (Mr George Isaacs) to consider a request for extra pay oij Saturday afternoons for London and provincial road passenger transport workers, has recommended that time and a quarter should be paid after 1 p.m. This is the sequel to a strike on New Year’s Day when nearly 30.000 bus and tramwaymen stopped work to enforce their demand for time and a half pay.—London, February 24.
