NATIONALISATION OF SHIPPING
DANGERS OF OPERATION EMPHASISED
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDOJi, February 24. In his presidential address- to the United Kingdom Chamber of Shipping, Mr Colin Anderson said that nationalised shipping would certainly be a dangerous trade for the administration that undertook it. because there were so many outside factors to intervene.
“Success in our industry still depends on certain individual, perhaps even Elizabethan, qualities which it has not yet been discovered how to infuse into peace-time bureaucratic control,” he said. "Our industry certainly pulls its weight, but it has to pull it through the clay which to-day clogs all the wheels of reconstruction.”
