SIR GEORGE CHESTER APPOINTED
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 24. Sir George Chester, general secretary of the National Union of Boot and Shoe Operatives, and a member of the general council of the Trades Union Congress, has been appointed a director of the Bank of England, in succession to Mr George Gibson, who resigned on December 23, after giving evidence before the Lynskey tribunal, which inquired into allegations of corruption in the Board of Trade.
