VALEDICTORY
Mrs H. B. Whitta (vice-president of the Canterbury Women’s Club) and Mrs Alfred Sandston (a former member of the committee) were the guests of honour at a small party given at the club rooms yesterday by the president (Mrs G. H. Watts) and members of the committee of the club. Both will leave New .Zealand early next week— Mrs Sandston for -a trip to Scotland, and Mrs Whitta for a visit to relatives in California. Mrs Watts said that both the guests had been valuable members of the club, who would be greatly missed. She wished them a happy holiday, and assured them of a warm welcome on their return to Christchurch. Mrs R. J. McLaren and Mrs A. I£. G. Lyttle (past presidents) and Mrs A. Ledsham (director of the music circle of the club) added their good wished to those expressed - by by the president. Mrs Watts, on behalf of those present, gave posies and small parting gifts to Mrs’ Sandston and Mrs Whitta.
