S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day on Eros Georgellis, a carpenter, for breaches of the building regulations in the city of Wellington. The prosecution was brought by the Building Controler. Defendant pleaded guilty to charges ot using cement for a well without a permit, proceeding with building a house after he had been ordered to stop, and that in building a house he did not conform with the specifications of the permit issued.
In imposing a fine of £5O on each charge, the Magistrate said the defendant had been in the country fox - 11 years and ought to know something of the building regulations. He had defied a warning and although account would be taken of the fact that he was a foreigner, the offencees must be regarded as very serious.
