Notice is hereby given to the parents of pupils attending the above school, that a postal election for the parents’ representatives on the Board of Managers for each of the above schools will be conducted, the election closing at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 15th March, 1949. Three managers are to be elected by parents for the Board of Managers for each school, and excepting for the Board of Managers for Christchurch Boys* High School, at least one of the managers elected must be a woman. Candidates for the election shall be nominated in writing by one or more parents entitled to vote, and each nomination paper should bear the written consent of the candidate nominated. IN accordance with Order in Council No. 1948-9 dated February 16, 1949, notice is hereby given to the associations of employers in local industries and to the associations of employees in local industries that meetings of the electing committees will be held during the month of March, 1949, for the purpose of electing their representatives for the Boards of Managers of the above two schools. The number of managers to be elected by each of the electing committees is three in the case of Christchurch Technical School Board and two in the case of Papanui Technical School Board. Each association of employers and employees recognised for the purpose by the Honourable Minister of Education is entitled to appoint one member of the relative electing committee and applications are hereby called from the said associations for recognition by the Honourable Minister for this purpose. THE following is an outline of alterations being made in the Board’s Schedule of Charges for Electricity dated Ist April, 1948: CASH DISCOUNTS. The paragraph so headed is deleted, and the following is inserted in lieu thereof:— “In addition to the charges specified below, an additional sum of 2s in the pound or portion thereof shall be added as part of the Basic Charge in each case, and each account shall be subject to a reduction of the amount so added if it is paid within 14 days of the date on which the account is rendered.’ - DOMESTIC TARIFF. 1. In all cases the number of units per quarter at lOd will be forty-eight (48). 2. Schools, churches, and "non-commer-cial” halls will be subject to a minimum charge of £1 per quarter. The above alterations will come into, force on Ist April, 1949, which means that they will be first shown in the Meter Readings which commence on Ist July, 1949. Copies of amendments to the Schedule of Charges issued on Ist April, 1948, may be obtained from the Board’s office, Darfield. The above alterations have the approval of the Economic Stabilisation Commission. The object of these alterations to the Board's Schedule of Charges is the elimination of the Power Board Rate on Property in the Malvern Electric Power District. 1 There will be no such rate collected during the financial year ending 31st March, 1950.
