N.Z. SWIMMERS TO ATTEND TRAINING SCHOOL (P.A.) AUCKLAND. February 25. Swimmers who are possibilities for selection in the team to represent New Zealand at the Empire Games in Auckland next February would be named immediately after the national championshios. said the president of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association (Mr Baxter O’Neill, of Christchurch), at the conference of centre delegates to-day. A comprehensive system for training swimmers in the Dominion was mapped out. The Empire Games team will attend a training school in Auckland two weeks before the Games start. A training school for leading and promising swimmers will, if practicable. be provided in October. The principle of annual training schools was adopted. Amateur coaches from all centres will be invited to attend as observers. Mr P. Coira (Christchurch) suggested that the Government should employ one experienced coach in each island. Nominations for officials for the swimming events at the Empire Games will be called for immediately.
