PERSIA’S BAN ON TUDEH PARTY
ADDITIONAL MEASURES REPORTED
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, February 23. The Persian Government is said to have proclaimed a state of emergency throughout the country to prevent a revival of activity of the Communistsponsored Tudeh organisation. The Tudeh organisation . was dissolved after the recent attempt on the life of the Shah. “The Cairo newspaper, ‘AI Misri,’ says that the attempt to assassinate the Shah was part of a Communist plan to overthrow the Government and declare a Communist State,” says the Cairo correspondent of the Associated Press. “ ‘AI Misri’ says that trucks and jeeps loaded with weapons were stationed in front of the Russian Embassy ready to distribute arms among members of the Tudeh organisation on the death of the Shah. The alleged plan included the occupation of Government and Parliament buildings and the arrest of senior officials.”
