CLAY TARGET SHOOTING

BELFAST-KAIAPOI CLUB There was a large attendance of spectators and shooters at the Belfast-Kaiapoi Gun Club’s grounds at Chaneys, when a series of matches were held, including the main event of £25. Shooting conditions were tricky because of a strong northwest wind. The first match, an eye-opener of five clay targets, resulted in the following 39 shooters breaking the possible and dividing the sweep:—D. W. Davidson (handicap 16yds), E. H Eccles (12), J. Hayes (11), E. A. W. Smith (11). F. Inwood (11). W. Noble (11), L. Blatchford (11), P. Washbourne (11). B. H. Sluis (13), S. Inwood (11), A. P.- Chamberlain (13), and G. Burgess (11). The main match, shot at 15 clay targets off handicao marks, drew an entry of 34. E. H. Eccles. J. Hayes, and G. Burgess shot the possible and divided first, second, and third money. The following, with 14 on. divided the balance: D. Dorreen, B. H. Sluis, L. Kerr, C. Skinner, K Chamberlain, S. Inwood, D. Dalton, A. P. Chamberlain, and F. G. Burgess. The third match was a double rise of five pairs. Top score went to A. N. Turner with nine on, J. Manson collecting second money with eight breaks. The fourth event was a gimcrack of five targets, and of the 33 shooters facing the referee the following shot the possible:—D. W. Davidson, B. H. Sluis, M. Anderson, .S. Marston, J. Inwood. L.
