RETURN TO NANKING THOUGHT LIKELY
POSSIBLE TALKS WITH COMMUNISTS (Rec. 7 p.m.) NANKING, Feb. 22. The Acting-President of Nationalist China (General Li Tsung-jen) is said to have won limited support and cooperation from the Prime Minister (Dr. Sun Fo) ajs a result of General Li’s visit to Canton. Informed sources say that Dr. Sun Fo is prepared to return to Nanking to present a united front with the Acting-President in negotiations with the Communists. It is also stated that Dr. Sun Fo will report personally to the next meeting of the Legislative Yuan, which is now expected to assemble in Nanking rather than Canton. According to reliable reports from Peiping, the Communist leader, Mr Mao Tse-tung, has agreed to meet the Government peace envoy (Mr Shao Li-tze) for talks. Mr Shao Li-tze and another member of the Shanghai peace delegation, Mr W. Yen, will fly to Shihchihchung to-day to confer with Mr Mao.
