GORSE AT MOUNT SOMERS

Sir,—There is a forest of broom and gorse growing in the centre of Mount Somers township. I would like to know why the Ashburton County Council does not have it cleared, as it is a menace to the houses adjoining it —Yours, 6tc.. DISGUSTED. February 16, 1949. [The land referred to by the correspondent had been taken over by the Housing Department, said the Ashburton Countv Engineer (Mr R. L. Lindsay), to whom this letter was referred. “The State Advances Corporation has been written to, asking it to take steps to have the gorse and broom removed at once.”]
