OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. February 22. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at S p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a deep depression over the Tasman is moving towards South Westland. Forecast up to 5 p.m.: moderate northerly winds, later tending to south-west; weather dull and mild, with occasional rain, heavy in the ranges. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of he Sou?' Island is:— Moderate north-easterly winds, strong for a time; weather overcast and mild, with intermittent rain, heavy in the .ranges. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Yesterday, the weather in Christchurch was fine but overcast. Light rain fell early in the evening. The maximum temperature was 63.6 degrees. At midnight the sky was overcast and a moderate north-east wind was blowing. The temperature was 59 degrees, and the barometer, at 29.513 degrees (999.4 millibars) was falling steadily.
