OBITUARY
MR H. H. CLIFFORD Mr Henry Herbert Clifford died in Christchurch on Saturday at the age of 77. The son of Mr Robert Clifford. a Dunedin photographer, he came to Christchurch at an early age and started business about 1900 on his own account. Many of the older Canterbury families were photographed by Mr Clifford during several gen-
erations. In 1914 he married Miss Annette Thomas. A.T.C.L.. L.T.C.L. For exhibits in the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1925, he won a certificate and medal. His ; hobbies were the collection of period furniture and gardening. For many years Mr Clifford made portraits of public men for publication in “The Press.” His studio was recently used for a national conference of photographers. Mr Clifford is survived by his widow, a sister (Mrs Eva Wilson, of Dunedin), and one son. Mr Ogilvie Clifford, of Christchurch. Two sons, one of whom died while serving with the Air Force in the war, died before their father.
