HEALTH CAMP COMMITTEE

The report on the twenty-fourth group of children, 42 small girls, who recently spent nearly eight weeks at the Glenelg health camp. Murray Aynsley hill, was received last evening at the monthly meeting of the health camp committee. The chairman (Mr. George Burns) presided. Many of the children learned to swim while they were at the camp and the average increase in weight was about five pounds, the highest being 8? pounds. A letter of thanks from the parents of a child from Cobden said ihat their daughter, since her return from camp, “was a different child.” She was doing better at her school work, was taking an interest in swimming and music, and was free from attacks of asthma, from which she had formerly suffered. Mrs E. Morrison, the matron, reported that she had met in Timaru a child who had been in the health camp three years ago. The child had formerly suffered from asthma, but said that since her stay in Glenelg she had not had an attack. It was reported that Mrs M: K. Healey was filling the position of temporary assistant at the school at Glenelg and that good progress was being made. with the erection of the new two-roomed school building. Forty-two boys were admitted to the camp about three weeks ago and were doing well, the matron reported. Many were learning to swim.
