NURSE MAUDE ASSOCIATION The street appeal made last week on behalf of the Lyttelton branch of the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association resulted in £63 being collected. Diamond Harbour Water Supply The Lyttelton Borough Council last evening decided to ask the Government for legislation to compel all section holders at Diamond Harbour to contribute towards a water supply scheme for the district. The council received a letter from Mr G. A. G. Connal, acting for the Diamond Harbour Burgesses’ Association, asking that a proportion of the cost of the scheme should be loaded on to the price of each new section sold. The town clerk (Mr J. Thompson) reported that 211 section holders had agreed to contribute towards the cost, but only 96 of these had so far actually paid their contributions. The council agreed that it would have no power to add the cost of the contribution to the prices of sections, and it was decided to make the necessary approach to the Government to compel all section holders to contribute. Funds for New Ambulance A Lyttelton businessman had offered to give £25 towards the cost of the new ambulance for Lyttelton, on condition that three other citizens made similar donations, said the Mayor (Mr F. G. Briggs). A grant of £5O was made by the council towards the cost of the ambulance. Yachting Members of the Charteris Bay Yacht riuh sailed Ihe second race for the Currie trophy to a Mark Foy start. Results were: Hesperus (L Smith), scr. 12.43.56, 1: Raeonie (J. Ferguson).
