LEGAL OFF-COURSE BETTING
Sir, —Ef the proposal is carried, every .race meeting, small or large, will by law be conducted all over New Zealand. There can be no doubt it will not stop at horse racing. »Is it any wonder Church authorities are disturbed?—Yours, etc., H. BLISS. February 20, 1949. Sir.—A pamphlet asking me to vote for this proposal says, “You are urged to vote . . . [considering] what is best for your country’s good.” My opinion is. less and not more facilities for betting. Why not enforce the law?— Yours, etc., L.H. February 21, 1949.
