N.S.W. TEAM ARRIVES TO-MORROW MATCHES AGAINST N.Z. AT WILDING PARK

The New South Wales lawn tennis team to play New Zealand at Wilding Park w’ill arrive in Christchurch to-morrow and will be given an official welcome by the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association on Thursday afternoon. The matches will be played on Friday and Saturday. The members of the team are O. W. Sidwell (captain), R. McCarthy, J. Matthews, and D. R» Rocavert. Sidwell is an Australian Davis Cup player. McCarthy, in recent tournaments, has beaten Colin Long and Geoff Brown. Matthews is a country’ player who took Quist to five sets in the inter-state tournament. Rocavert’s best wins have been against Jack Crawford and Jack Dart. J. Robson. R. S. McKenzie, O. Bold, and J. Barry are the members of the New Zealand team. The draw for the tw’o days is as follows: Friday Singles.—l.3o p.m.: Matthews v. Bold. Rocavert v. Barry. 2.45 p.m.: Sidwell v. McKenzie, McCarthy v. Robson. Doubles.—4 p.m.: Matthews and Rocavert v. Robson and McKenzie, Sidwell and McCarthy v. Barry and Bold. Saturday Singles.—l p.m.: Matthews v. Barry, Rocavert v. Bold. 2.15 p.m.: Sidwell v. Robson. McCarthy v. McKenzie. Doubles.—3.3o p.m.: Sidwell and McCarthy v. Robson and McKenzie: Matthews and Rocavert v. Barry and Bold. Inter-Association Matches The annual match between the Canterbury and South Canterbury associations will be played at Wilding Park on March 19. This date was agreed to at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Association after a letter had been received from the South Canterbury Association.

It was decided to invite Otago to send a team 1 of six men and six women to play at Wilding Park on March 26.
