After 43 years in the Police Force Superintendent J. A. Dempsey, who is in charge of the Wellington district, will retire at the end of next month. Ete accompanied the Duke' of Gloucester on his New Zealand tour, receiving the Royal Victorian Medal. Superintendent D. J. O’Neill, of Christchurch, will replace Mr Dempsey.—(P.A.) Mr E. T. Stout, . manager of the Timaru branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, was made a presentation by fellow officers at a recent farewell function. Mr Stout has been ■transferred to Napier. He will be succeeded by Mr A. N. Watson, of Balclutha. Messrs D. J. S. Cook. H. G. Hay, E. A. Harris, and J. T. James, of Christchurch. have been admitted to the New Zealand Society of Accountants with the status of associate registered accountant. Messrs M. G. Proctor and W. G. Quirk, of Christchurch, have been granted transfers of status to associate public accountant. Messrs T. J. Chamberlain and W. C. Reid, of Christchurch, have been granted the status of associate public accountant. On a special mission for the British Government, three British woollen manufacturers arrived by air on Saturday. They were Messrs G. M. R. Pearson, of Bradford, secretary of the Woollen Worsteds Traders’ Federation. and F. C. Hirst and L. V. Driffield. The visitors will confer with the Government in Wellington.—(.P.A J
