Sir,—lf “Eugenist” would scamper around the pubs any Saturday morning he would easily ascertain that the average elbow-bender prefers a deeper handle of beer to a deeper philosophy of life. Possibly, he knows sorfie alternative opiate to booze and geegees; but it has to possess the cardinal virtues of a pleasant amenity and cheapness and be physically satisfying.—Yours, etc., A. E. E.
