MANAGEMENT OF TROUT STREAMS
Sip,—lt wpuld be interesting to know if Mr Hamilton’s theory about the lamprey eel is correct. However this jpay bp. I feel th? worst enemies of trout are ignorant selfish people who use illegal method? of killing them. Country people who live near trout streams have told me of dynamiting and torch fishing expeditions organised by who do not seem to realise that trout streams are a natural asset which it is everybody’s duty tb preserve. I have been told of wholesale slaughter of trout by dynamiting in the spawning season, when they are quite uneatable. If these reports are true and these illegal depredations continue, there will soon be no trout left.— Yours, etc.. M. WALKER. February 18, 1949.
