SINGLE DIRECT PLACED IN HEAT (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) ADELAIDE. Feb. 20. All three divisions of the first heat of the Inter-Dominion Trotting ship were held yesterday in fair conditions. The New Zealander, Single Direct, which raced in the third division, was forced to travel wide throughout the distance, but covered it in 2min 13.9 sec, the fastest time of the heat. Victory Speed, beat the Tasmanian, Lu Raider, by a short head in the second division, pacing 2min 14.9 sec.
