ATTACK WINS DOUBLE “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, February 20. The Auckland Trotting Club's February meeting was opened at Epsom yesterday in fine weather before an attendance of 14,000. The track was in good order. The totalisator handled £100,207, against £137,244 10s on thejfirst day of the interDominion Championship meeting last February. M. Paul, driver of Tiny Tot, winner of the Wairakei Handicap, was fined £lO for careless driving. J. G. Gillard, who drove Gold Horizon to win the February Handicap, was fined £2O and his license reduced to D status for one month for gross carelessness in cutting across Sure Money too quickly.

The dual success of the brilliant young pacer. Attack, which won the Otahuhu Handicap and the Papakura Handicap and increased his sequence of wins to eight and the runaway victory of Gold Horizon in the February Handicap, were features of the meeting. Attack and Captain Sandy fought a great finish in the Otahuhu Handicap, the camera showing the former. a good win favourite, a nose in front °V. t ‘ le Auckland Trotting Cup winner, which was the place fancy. Four lengths back, aDyrham Lea was third, two lengths clear of Dundee Sandy, followed by Doctor Ted.

Attack, a bit slow to strike his straps, quickly ran past the leader, Black Machine, to pilot the field to the "half mile in Imin 6sec. Maudeen then dashed to the front with Captain Gaillard, Attack, Captain Sandy, Black Machine and Dryham Lea following. Maudeen still showed the way at the mile and a half in 3min ISsec, Captain Gaillard beng second wth Captain Sandy on the outside of Attack and Dyrham Lea leading the rest. Attack w as pulled put at the home turn and with Capain Sandy came away to fight out a great finish. Another exciting finish was witnessed in the Papakura Handicap when Attack continued his winning efforts to finish a head in front of Battle On, which attempted to lead all the way. Attack and Battle o n finish to themselves, Ann Scott three lengths away doing best of the others to secure third place, with two lengths back to Marshal Ney.
