MINOR FIRES

The Christchurch Fire Brigade was called to four fires during the weekend. On Saturday the brigade put out two grass fires. The first broke out at 1.54 am. on a vacant section owned by the Christchurch City Council in Harewood road, and the second at 1.39 p.m., at 75 Grange road, Opawa. on a property occupied by Elizabeth Munro. There was no damage from these fires. Last evening the brigade was called to two fires. The first, a chimney fire, was at 33 Cowlishaw street, on premises occupied by Norman Clifford Tasker. At 9.30 pm. a small fire broke out in the wood-turning factory of W.. A. Tibbs, 121 Victoria street. The brigade soon put the fire out and there was no damage.
