WOMEN’S TEST AT SYDNEY
ENGLAND OUT FOR 172 (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY. Feb, 19. The first day’s play in the third women’s test match between England and Australia saw England dismissed for 172, the top-scorer being the captain, Molly Hide, with a sound asd enterprising 63, made in quick time. Joan Schmidt, qf Melbourne, fielding in the slips, took three brilliant catches. The spectators, numbering 5000, most of whom had not known what tp expect from the women cricketers, stayed late and applauded frequently. For England, Wilkinson made 27. Hudson took three wickets for 11; Whiteman, two fpr 31; Craddock, two for 33. At stumps. Australia in its first inpings had made 32 for the loss of one wicket.
