Sir, —If “D.V.D.” would read Dr. Caleb W. Saleeby’s scientific work entitled “Parenthood and Race Culture,” especially Chap. XIV. on racial poisons, he would learn, if he is capable of learning, that the “ill-informed, prejudiced, narrow-minded and bigoted,” as ne calls them, are not those who oppose the use of alcohol as a beverage but those who advocate it. If A. E. E. Ivory will read the same chapter he will find, if he faces realities. that “Booze is a sin and bad” in very truth. It is a sin because it hurts future generations by entering the very sanctuary of life and weakening the germ-plasm. It is bad because it is an irritant poison which adversely affects every part of the body of the drinker. In short, it not only lames the runner, but dims the light that he hands on to the next generation.— Yours, etc., EUGENIST. February 16, 1949.
