Chinese Sent to Gaol.—A Chinese who posed as a Sydney merchant, and failed ' to pay £2l owing for board at an Aucki land private hotel, pleaded guilty in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court to-day to a • charge of vagrancy. He was Jim Pei Lo. aged 44. The police said the accused had i recently completed a two-year term in gaol and had many previous convictions. 1 His permit to remain in New Zealand had expired in 1946.
