FIGURES FOR JANUARY SHOW INCREASE Building permits issued during January Show an increase in number and value ©n those issued during January. 1948, according to figures issued by the Christchurch City Council. Ninety-eight permits worth £64.383 were issued in January, 1948. compared with 135 permits worth £66.586 in January of this year. The Linwood ward shows an increase of 16 permits worth more than £lO,OOO. this being the largest. The number of permits issued for St. Albans, although showing an increase in number, decreased in value bv more than £3OOO. The following table, shows the number and value of permits issued in each
