The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is an anti-cyclone over the western Tasman Sea, and a deep depression south-east of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate to fresh southerly winds; weather cool and changeable, with scattered showers, chiefly about and north of Banks Peninsula. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate winds from a southerly quarter; a few isolated showers, but weather mainly fair; temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Rain fell in Christchurch yesterday morning, but the weather cleared and remained fine until last evening. The maximum temperature was 59.0 degrees. At midnight, light rain was falling, and there was a moderate south-west wind. The barometer, at 29.109 inches (1012.8 millibars), was rising. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 aun.: 0.15 in.
