I.L.O. COMMITTEE TO MEET IN N.Z.
CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL SECURITY (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, December 15 The first conference of the newlyconstituted Committee on Social Security set up by the International Labour Organisation will be held in New Zealand—probably . in Wellingtonearly in 1950. This decision was reached unanimously at the recent conference of the governing body of the organisation, held at Geneva. When Mr Percy Coyle, Dominion president of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, who represented New Zealand. Australia, and South Africa at the conference, supported the w Zealand Government’s invitation to hold the social security conference in New Zealand, it was generally agreed that New Zealand, as the firs*t country to develop a full system of social security, would be the most appropriate place for the committee to hold its first meeting.
