RAIN, HAIL, AND WIND ON PEOPLE’S DAY CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, December 15. I A strong wind and heavy showers of rain and hail made conditions unpleasant for People’s Day at the Royal Agricultural Show in Invercargill to-day. The association was not insured against rain. The judging of some of the horse seations was postponed until to-morrow. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr E L. Cullen) officially opened the show. He paid tribute to the organisers and to the high standard of the exhibits. He emphasised the importance to Britain of the increased production of food. Other speakers were the president of the Royal Agricultural Society (Mr B. E. Keiller. of Palmerston North), the president of the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association (Mr J. S. Marshall), and the Mayor of Invercargill (Mr A. Wachner). The official opening was followed by the grand parade of prize stock. Championship awards have been made as follows: Cattle Friesian bull: W.
