New Swimming Record.—The national record for the junior boys’ 220 yards breastsroke event was broken in a special attempt in Auckland last evening by T. Eagle, of the Ponsonby Club, who swam the distance in 3min 6 4-ssec. The previous record of 3min 8 l-ssec was set by V. E. Vial, of Southland, and was equalled by T. Duncan, of Waikato.
