DONNELLY’S VIEWS In selecting cricket teams to visit England. New Zealand should take into consideration the difference between flaying conditions in the two countries, said Mr A. T. Donnelly, who recently returned from a trip abroad. The present reputation of New Zealand and that established by earlier teams should ensure a popular reception for the New Zealand side in England next year/ Likely candidates showed that good batting performances could be expected. Martin Donnelly was generally known as a great player and personality, his innings of 162 for the Gentlemen against the players at Lord’s last year being regarded as one of the finest ever seen on the giound. English cricket, would probably take longer to recover than after World War LMr Donnelly said. Few amateurs were available for county cricket and national service and economic conditions were affecting the recruitment of professionals. High wages in other employment was attracting some useful men from this career. DRAW FOR SATURDAY
