OFFICIAL FORECASTS "The Press” Special Service. WELLINGTON, December 14. The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is a deep depression south-east of New Zealand, and an anti-cyclone is moving on to the western Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate to fresh south-west winds; a few’ isolated showers near the coast*, but weather mainly fair; temperatures moderate. Further outlook: mainly fair. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Fresh west to south-west winds: weather changeable, with occasional passing showers; temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was warm and sunny, with a moderate northerly wind. The maximum temperature was 80.1 degrees. The sky was overcast at midnight, and there was a light north-west wind. The barometer, at 22.374 inches (994.7. millibars) was falling.
