Sir,—“Fair Play” applies the term “scroungers” to those of his fellow unionists who do not agree with him politically, showing even more clearly a typical Socialist (now very angry indeed) who in his anger is losing sight of the facts. The original statement by Mr A. B. Grant admitted that a ballot had “not indicated” a majority of the membership of his union in favour of a donation to Labour Party funds. Under the new law a majority can be compelled by a minority to contribute —a clear example of what ultimate Socialism really indans. It will not be ignored by those who value political freedom I and detest totalitarian methods.— Yours, etc., OBSERVER. December 13, 1948.
