SYDENHAM SCHOOL
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS About 575 children at the Sydenham School received a free meal yesterday at the expense of the 75th Anniversary Committee. The 75th anniversary celebrations of the school began last Saturday and will conclude to-night when a ball will be held in the Wentworth. It is expected that about 100 guests will be present. On Monday 900 persons were present at a high tea. This was the maximum number that could be catered for, but 3000 invitations to former pupils had been issued. Yesterday was children’s day and was devoted entirely to present pupils, of the school. In the morning sports were held. These were operated under the school’s house system and there were no prizes. They will take the place of the- school’s usual annual sports. The anniversary committee provided free ice cream, soft drinks, and sweets. Every child was also given a mug, and a badge to mark the anniversary. In the afternoon a general entertainment was presented for the children.
