BRITISH HONDURAS

GUATEMALAN STATEMENT ON MEDIATION (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) GUATEMALA CITY, Oct. 27. The Guatemalan Government announced to-dey that Britain had rejected a proposal for United States meditation in the dispute over possession of British Honduras. The Guatemalan Government’s statement said: “In view of the impossibility of harmonising the points of view on terms for submitting the disSute to the International Court of ustice, Guatemala gave evidence of its goodwill by proposing to Britain the mediation of a friendly State. The British Government rejected mediation by the United States. Besides by showing again the British Government’s intransigence and lack of goodwill in considering Guatemala’s rights, this action is unjust.”
