DISCUSSION BY U.N. COMMITTEE <R ®c. 7 p.m.) „ „ PARIS, October 27, The United Nations Political Committee to-day began discussing a resolution condemning Greece's three northern neighbours for “threatening peace” m the Balkans. The resolution, tabled by Britain, the United States. France, and China, asked that the United Nations Balkans Commission continue its work. The committee rejected a Polish proposal that Mr Militiades Porphyrogenis, formerly secretary-general of the Communist E.A.M. resistance group, should be admitted as an observer. Dr. Ales Bebler. Assistant Jugoslav Foreign Minister, told the committee that the situation in Greece was “not a farce, but a bloody tragedy,” and that Greece was “on the road to moral bankruptcy.” Government oppression and foreign intervention were so appalling that the people of Greece had no alternative to taking up arms.
