MEETING AT CARLETON

BRANCH OF WOMEN’S DIVISION FORMED A brief talk on the expansion of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers since the formation of the first branch in Wellington in 1925, and the benefits to which members are now entitled, including the housekeeper service and the use of the four rest homes run by the division and the new holiday cottage at Lowry Bay, was given by Mrs Leonard Coop, Dominion vice»president and honorary organiser of the Women’s Division for North Canterbury, at a meeting held in the Carleton Hall yesterday afternoon to form a branch of the organisation to serve women in the Carleton-Bennetts area. The meeting had been convened by Mrs W. Reed, of the Oxford branch, who was elected president of the new branch, which will be known as the Carleton-Bennetts branch. Other officers elected were:—vicepresidents, Mesdames L. Farr and McKeage; secretary and treasurer, Mrs Sutherland; advisory members, Mrs W. Reed and Mrs Bennett; delegates. Mesdames Reed. Bennett, L. Farr, and McKeage; committee, Mesdames N. Skurr, O’Loughlin, J. Farr, sen., McGovern, Harding, J. Farr, jun., Carmichael, Roper, Dewar, I. H. Thompson, Misses O’Loughlin, Barbara Cross, and M. Reed.
