OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. October 28. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is an anti-cyclone north of the North Island, and a series of depressions from south-east Australia to the south-east of the South Island. Forecast: Moderate to fresh north-east winds. Weather cloudy and mild. Further outlook: some rain likely. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate northerly winds, freshening at times. Weather overcast, with drizzle or rain. Temperatures mild. . Further outlook: unsettled. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and hot, with a strong northwest wind. The maximum temperature was 83 degrees. The sky was clear at midnight and the barometer at 29.669 inches (1004.7 millibars) was rising unsteadily. There was a light north-west breeze and the temperature was 64.2 degrees.
