NEW KITCHEN AT WIGRAM

GROWTH OF STATION STRENGTH A new kitchen, able to provide meals for 500 men at a time, is to be built in the main airmen’s mess at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station. Wigram. It is hoped that the work will be completed by the end of the year. The present kitchen was built before the war and the station strength has outgrown its capabilities. The space will be extended and renovations will be carried out, and the new kitchen will include modern equipment. The electric ranges will be grouped in an island, with the cooks working round them. The additions have been made necessary because one of the messes had to be given up to the immigrants’ carrp at Wigram. While work on the new kitchen is in progress, the men will have their meals in the immigrants’ mess. The work should take about a month.
