CATTLE BEAST ESCAPES
A beast, which broke away from a mob of cattle in Harper avenue qh Wednesday afternoon gave a drover and several voluntary helpers some trouble before it was persuaded to rejoin the mob. After breaking away it galloped across the Hagley golf links to the clubhouse, which it entered. The drover was able to induce it to leave the pavilion after brandishing a whip at it, from the rear. It ran round the pavilion several times, and whenever it was headed off went in the reverie direction. Eventually the drover and a helper returned it to the mob.
