£230 STOLEN FRQM SAFE IN“ CHRISTCHURCH SHOP From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH. October 27. Robert Alexander Gilmer, aged 30, a Canadian marine engineer, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Greymouth today on a charge of breaking and entering Munn’s, Ltd., at Christchurch, on October 3, committing theft, and stealing £24 18s 6d from Lilia Jessie McLean, the wife of the licensee of the Commercial Hotel. Hokitika, on October 17. “A safe was broken open at Munn’s, and the sum of £230 was stolen;” said Detective-Sergeant N. Thoqipson. On the first charge he was remanded to appear in the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch on Friday. ' The police proceeded with the second charge, to which the accused pleaded guilty. The police said that accused admitted taking the money from under Mrs McLean’s pillow while she slept. On this charge he was committed for trial in the Supreme Court at Christchurch. Messrs E.
